Albert Einstein said, “The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them.” We need a new level, a deeper level of thinking – a paradigm based on the principles that accurately describe the territory of effective human being and interacting – to solve these deep concerns. This new level of thinking is what The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is about.
Knowledge is the theoretical paradigm, the “what to do” and the “why”.
Skill is the “how to do”.
Desire is the motivation, the “want to do”.
In order to make something a habit in our lives, we have to have all three.
Be Proactive
The first habit is “Be Proactive”; this is the beginning of anything you want to do or change in your private or professional life, of doing something for yourself. It sounds quite simple but it is not, believe me. You have to start with a very clear picture what you want to do and why – Knowledge. This is followed by a strong motivation “want to do” – Desire. The final step is implementation “how to do” – Skill.
What are the other habits?
I will come back to that. Can’t wait? Here is the e-book of Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
